Wednesday, Day 5 - A block behind the NY Stock Exchange is Trinity Church Wall Street. There were two concerts at the church at 1:00. Our plan was to attend the short choir concert inside, then enjoy some of the outdoor concert before moving on. Inside was the Imperial Chorale of Bucks Country from Doylestown, PA, directed by Gavin McIlhinney. Sounds fancy, but it was four teens in formal attire. They didn’t look very promising, but when they opened their mouths I quit worrying about looks. Their sound rivaled the sound of recordings I’ve heard of the same music. It was incredible. That was the good part. On the down side, they were competing with the sounds of the amplified music from the other concert in the courtyard just outside the church. Also, the director was one of the four kids. He seemed to take his job a little too seriously; make that way too seriously. I tried listening with eyes shut but that meant nap time. Between the power hungry kid director and the intruding music from the courtyard, we took off after two songs. - Photo by Stan Ford
